Frequently Asked Questions

FREE Virtual Walkthroughs - Is This Correct?

Yes. Just as you may have taken a five percent listing over the preferred six percent because you wanted the business and the opportunity to get referrals and build a relationship.  We’re doing the same thing.  By offering a free model, our hope is to build a long term relationship and we don’t mind taking the first step.  As noted through out the site, the scan is limited to 2,000 sf and billed at a small rate of five cents per square foot.

Are There Conditions To the Free Scan?

Yes. The free scan is up to 2,000 sf. Anything over that is charged five to ten cents per square foot.  Any distance over 50 miles (from my office in Joliet) will be charged a $25 as it may take several hours in driving time.

How large of an area can be scanned?
For residential properties, 200 scans is sufficient to build Models up to approximately 10,000 square feet. The exact square footage will vary depending on the layout of the property and furniture.
Can you scan outdoors?
The Matterport Pro 3D Camera is designed for indoor use. Direct sunlight can interfere with data collection. However, some Matterport users have had success scanning external spaces such as gardens and patios when there is no direct sunlight (such as at dawn or dusk).

Which major websites (Zillow, Realtor.com, etc) support Matterport 3D?
Zillow announced in the spring of 2015 they will support the Matterport 3d Models on their website. However, a bug in the system has been discovered and Matterport is temporarily not available.  A simple link to any website with the embedded model is a simple solution.  Other major website will catch up soon.

Please have the home ready upon the arrival of the photographer.   Exterior

  • Move your vehicles from the driveway and park away from the front of the home. Remove them from the garage if you wish to include this in your listing photographs.
  • Place garbage bins and anything that is not attached to the home out of sight.
  • Remove or coil garden hoses neatly.
  • Remove any toys or pet related items from the yard.
  • Remove seasonal décor.
  • Straighten up all your deck furniture.
  • Cut the grass and remove all weeds from cracks in concrete and generally tidy the area.

  General

  • Turn all inside lights on, including lamps, under counter lights and stove lights, and replace any burned bulbs
  • Open all drapes and blinds on windows with a good view. Exception would be bathrooms or rooms with a poor view.
  • If blinds are down, ensure they are equally angled open.
  • Conceal cords. Unplug them from the wall if needed (except lights).
  • Turn all ceiling fans off. They will create motion blur in your photo.
  • Turn all televisions off.
  • Remove small rugs from floors, especially from tile or wood floors.
  • Remove all family photos (these will create a distraction that can lose the buyers focus).
  • Make beds and close closets. If you want to showcase a closet, let the photographer know.
  • Remove all evidence of pets, food dishes, toys, cages and litter boxes.
  • Remove shoes from areas being scanned.
  • Remove any religious material (crosses, photos and statues).
  • Store all removed items in the garage (if not being photographed) or in closets or cabinets.

  Kitchen

  • Clear all counter tops. No dish rags or towels, soaps, knives or cutting boards. It’s ok to leave a few small appliances for size perception.
  • Remove dish drying racks and dishes from the sink.
  • Clear all sides of the refrigerator completely of any magnets, pictures or lists.
  • Remove any calendars. Calendars make listing dated if it goes over 30 days.
  • Remove trash can.

  Bathrooms

  • Clear the counter from absolutely every item considered to be personal.
  • Remove toilet cleaning brushes, toilet plungers and trash cans.
  • Remove shampoo and conditioner bottles and personal items from the shower and tub area.
  • Close the toilet lids.
  • Remove all floor mats.
  • Ensure towels are clean and neatly hung.

3D Scanning & Floor Plans For 3D scans, please ensure there are limited people and no pets within the areas being scanned. 3D scanning requires a clear room and additional time and costs may be incurred by delays.
